Merck Serono, a pharmaceutical company, launched in April 2009 their product Kuvan in Europe. Kuvan is the first medication to lower blood phe-levels in patients with BH4-responsive PKU. Kuvan will help those patients that respond to the product and lessen the burden of their diet. |

The official invitation for the next ESPKU conference in Turkey has been published.
Because it's a 'family meeting' the conference is dedicated to patients and families. Specific workshops are offered as well as presentations and discussions on Late Treated PKU and first patients. And also the experience with BH4 will be shared.
For professionals the conference offers the opportunity to exchange latest experiences in several workshops and presentations. |

Researcher Dr. Christineh Sarkissian from the McGill University in Canada has found a way to treat mice with Phenylketonuria succesfully with injections.
Sarkissian, who is a research associate at McGill’s Departments of Biology and Human Genetics and the MUHC/Montreal Children’s Hospital Research Institute, is hopeful that the new injectable treatment will make it possible for PKU patients to eat a more normal diet. |
